Ode to the Trabant

I saw this car at Budapest’s Memento Park, and I wanted to drive it so badly. I think it would be great to live with this car for a month so I could love to hate it.

This video makes this car look so awesome:

My favorite quote from the video is: “I can’t coast in first second or third. I have to be either on the pedal or in neutral. It’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard in my life. Okay, here we go. We’re going, we’re going. There’s a lot of smoke back there, it’s tremendously loud…”

Ah, so precious. I love and hate it in equal measures.

My books Memory Road Trip (e-bookpaperbackaudio) and Time Traveled (e-bookpaperbackaudio) are both available! You can also find them at most major international book sites.

  1. May be your best post yet (certainly for car enthusiasts, which I’m not). I thought the best lines were in the comments, the jokes about the “best jokes about the Trabant… How long is a Trabant?” At least it isn’t a Rambler. Do you remember, in any way, Ramblers?
