Above is a photo I took at the Arabian Horse Show in Scottsdale last February. I’m not big into horses, but I got a free admission ticket for attending the Parada del Sol parade, so I went to check it out. I didn’t stay for very long. I walked around the sales stalls and snapped a few pictures of horses, and pretty much left after that. Would I go again next year? Meh, probably not. Honestly, watching this guy park his car in his garage was more entertaining:
To change the subject entirely, it’s been discovered that Neanderthals had an Rh type that still exists in some humans but very rarely, called RhD. They also noted that RhD is not compatible with other variants found in either Homo sapiens or Denisovans.
Such an incompatibility would have likely led to hemolytic disease in offspring if a Homo sapiens or Denisova male were to mate with a Neanderthal female—a result that would have led to a host of health problems that would have prevented the offspring from maturing and reproducing. If such a practice became widespread, they suggest, it could have been a contributing factor to the demise of Neanderthals. I think this information is pretty neat to share.
My books Memory Road Trip (e-book or paperback) and Time Traveled (e-book or paperback) are both available! You can also find them at most major international book sites.
