In keeping with the theme of avoiding the news, I will share a few videos I recently watched.
This first video is something I wouldn’t normally view, but I became interested in this creator’s content after seeing a video where he discussed a meteorite that piqued my curiosity. Since then, I’ve watched several of his other videos, and I find his curiosity contagious. It brings me joy to learn about topics I never knew I was interested in.
This video features a multi-talented individual named Antoine, a retro-electronics enthusiast, paleontologist, and musician. It focuses on Antoine as he uses a microscope to capture images of vintage computer processing components. The YouTuber, Marc, jokingly refers to Antoine as “certifiably nuts,” explaining that this is part of why he likes him. The video offers a rare insight into a lesser-known world, and I found it quite enjoyable despite knowing nothing about the subject matter.
I suppose my interest in this topic stems from living in an area dominated by the Intel chip manufacturer. One thing about living in a tech-savvy area is that it’s common to see driverless cars roam around. Generally, they operate normally, but I’ve witnessed them make some unusual mistakes, such as driving into areas closed for construction. I really feel for this guy who got stuck in one doing an endless loop:
The final video I want to share is about an ancient Roman city I never heard of. It is located almost absurdly high in the mountains of modern-day Turkey, which has allowed it to remain preserved for over 1,700 years:
The city is called Termessos, and it had a period of autonomy during the late Roman Republic. During this time, it issued a series of coins to commemorate its symbolic separation from Rome. Watching this video gave me the idea of creating an autonomous region within the U.S. where we could be sheltered from all its political antics.

How incredible it would have been to listen to plays performed inside this theater!
Oh, and because I can’t help myself, here’s a little something to get pissed about:
Grand Canyon Trump Hotel/Theme Park: Environmentalists are worried that the Trump administration will attempt to privatize public lands, including the Grand Canyon, saying his mass firing of national park and public land employees could be a tactic to argue that the federal government is doing a bad job, and therefore lands should be sold to the highest bidders, the Republic’s Stephanie Murray reports. Meanwhile, water officials in Arizona, California and Nevada sent a letter to the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation blasting it for failing to come up with a good plan to protect Glen Canyon Dam infrastructure, saying the dam’s potential failure could really screw up the flow of river water to their states, the Daily Star’s Tony Davis reports. source.
