I’ve finally realized that I’ve been listening to too much news. American politics has officially exhausted me, and I need to spend my free time on different activities. I need to get outside more and touch the proverbial grass, which, in my case, is actually rocks. Pictured above is my backyard after a rain. It finally rained here on Friday, and it was fucking amazing. I went outside several times just to breathe in the damp air.
I spent most of Friday at home and worked on my writing. I’m more than three-quarters of the way through my third and final travel memoir, and it’s coming along quite nicely. Whenever I need a distraction, I switch over to the Sedona Webcam to admire the scenery. I had it open in the background and was enjoying the rare sight of snow.

I spent an hour on the Elliptical Cardio Climber machine yesterday and watched a few videos. I’ve been slowly making my way through a virtual hike on the Sol Duc Falls Nature Trail. I always start my workouts with a 4K nature hike of some sort. This was one of the videos a video I watched during the pandemic that got me into virtual hiking. It’s beautiful and provides a pleasant soundtrack. This video also convinced me that it was worth paying for YouTube Premium so I wouldn’t have to suffer through commercials.
I then watched what I affectionally call a “learn-y” video about the Egyptian Temple at Karnak. I am fascinated by ancient Egyptian history, and this video did an excellent job of illustrating what the temple used to look like. It’s only 10 minutes long, and I really enjoyed watching it.
The last video I watched while working out featured highlights from Brazil’s Carnival. Although I searched for videos from this year, I ended up watching one from 2024. I love watching Carnival highlights, and this particular video did a great job showcasing the Samba dancers. Many Carnival videos tend to focus on the floats, so it was refreshing to see actual dancing this time. I haven’t finished the entire video yet, but I plan to continue watching it during my next cardio session.
Yea! No politics! I’ve turned a new leaf! Some news is okay, but less news is even better. I can’t wait to learn new and interesting things!

My books Memory Road Trip (e-book or paperback) and Time Traveled (e-book or paperback) are both available! You can also find them at most major international book sites.
It will also be new and interesting when the political news gets better, no?
